Internships

Practical application of theory to address real-world organizational issues is a vital component of both the LOC graduate and undergraduate curriculum. Referred to as a "practicum," for-credit internships are coupled with students’ reflection and desire to connect theory from the classroom to practical experience. Each student works on a particular project related to issues of Learning & Organizational Change determined by the partnering organization. Degree-seeking students complete at least one practicum during their academic career.

Benefits to students include:

  • Application of theories, frameworks and models to address specific organizational issues
  • Development of business acumen
  • Acquisition of industry-specific/sector-specific skills and knowledge
  • Growth of professional network
  • Professional development

Benefits to organizations include:

  • Knowledge of leading organizational practices and processes
  • Interns working for credit, not for pay
  • Gaining a new team member with a fresh perspective
  • Potential for post-graduate employment
  • Connection to the network of businesses and organizations affiliated with the Center for Learning and Organizational Change
