Our Distinction

a design approach

Our bias is that people in organizations make design decisions. A design perspective is not only a systematic and thorough way of solving problems, but it is also very practical. In addition to the design of a solution, our approach leads to a better understanding of the situation in which the problem is embedded. It includes assessing environments and users, establishing goals, trying to solve a problem, making decisions and iterating along the way.

Questions designers might ask include:
  • What sorts of information do we need to gather?
  • What sorts of steps do we need to design in this process?
  • How can we test it to ensure that our assumptions are correct?
A design perspective is a great risk-management tool because it’s iterative and entails many testing cycles. The resulting final product, whether in the form of an information sharing system, management techniques, or market strategy, is more organic and thus enjoys a higher rate of successful adoption.
